Name: Vinay Mokashi
Title: Junior Concept Artist
Department: Concept Art
Length of career in the industry: 3 years
Time with Technicolor Games: 1+ years
How did your career begin?
Having grown up playing video games, I was always so inspired to create the characters I grew up with and wanted to pursue this properly in my eventual career. It was for this reason, along with my love for love for painting, that I chose to specialise in arts during my education. After graduation, I then began working as a pre-production artist in an animation studio.
However, my passion has always been in gaming, so alongside my work I built up a portfolio of concept art, which became crucial in my application to join Technicolor Games.
What has been your most memorable moment working at Technicolor Games?
Being part of the Technicolor Games concept team has helped me to understand the pipeline and production flow in the Games industry, something I never had before. My most memorable moment is from when I saw my own 2D concept drawings evolve into playable, 3D lifelike characters for the first time. I am extremely appreciative of the team’s help and guidance in that moment.
What is it like working at Technicolor Games?
While I was working in animation, I had no idea how to develop gaming concept art but since joining Technicolor Games, the entire team has continued to push me to think of ways to make my designs better. They are always willing to assist and motivate.
I’m happy to say that for the past 1.5 years, Technicolor Games has helped me to fully immerse myself in the vibrant world of video games. The future of this dynamic and forward-thinking organisation excites me. While we work to create unforgettable gaming experiences, I have no doubt that I will continue to develop personally and professionally.
What advice could you give to someone wanting to join the industry?
For an artist, the fundamentals are important. The fundamentals should never be neglected, regardless of how advanced the technology becomes.
A quote from Vinay’s manager:
Vinay is highly committed to learning art, and he catches things very quickly. It shows his enthusiasm for making art. I see him drawing in his free time as well, which inspires the entire team.
