Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing” by Theodore Roosevelt has been my inspiration.
Having started my professional career as an animator in 2010, I worked in animation with studios in Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. I had the opportunity to work as an animator for TV series doing cartoony and semi realistic animations. I also had a chance to work as a VFX previz artist for a few Hollywood movie titles. Although the experiences gave me great experience, I wasn’t feeling connected with the work that I had been doing. My work life took an incredible turn when I got the opportunity to work with Technicolor Games in April 2018.
I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the guidance and support that was given to me during my first days; exactly what anyone would need when starting a new role! From Junior to Senior, creative to production, everyone was friendly and the environment was easy to adapt to. I am fortunate enough to have made so many friends in my colleagues over the years in here.
I am very passionate about what I do and my interest to learn new skills and techniques drives me get any job done on my own. I like painting my home, fix households, gadgets myself. I love music, gardening, cooking and no, I don’t play computer games! 😊
How did your career begin?
After my higher secondary education and graduation, I chose animation as my career in 2009 because of my passion towards creating artwork. After completing my animation course, I got into a small production house in Kolkata as animator and there started my journey on this fascinating entertainment industry. It wasn’t an easy ride as animation was still new in India. I am delighted to see myself in this position working with a renowned company like Technicolor, although my first few years in the industry didn’t have a great start. I stuck to my goal as I didn’t wanted to give up and that’s something I am proud about myself.
What is your most memorable moment working at Technicolor Games?
I consider myself lucky that I worked on a large list of hi-end shows including Spyro, Starlink and some titles that are yet to release. These were challenging yet very interesting as I worked under different supervisions and everyday was a learning experience. I loved using 3ds Max on a really fantastic project for creating cinematic and gameplay animations.
What is it like working at Technicolor Games?
For me, Technicolor Games is all about the great work environment, culture and career growth; everything that an artist would expect from a studio.
What are you excited about for the future?
Apart from my growth, I am excited about the variety of projects that engage me during my working hours. It has been a great ride with several disciplines, from cartoon to realistic, gameplay to cinematics, easy to complex shows and various console games. I’m looking forward to continue working on such an exciting variation of projects.
What advice could you give to someone wanting to join the industry?
If you are passionate about art and entertainment, then this industry has so much to offer and can really add excitement to your working life. There is nothing in this world that can make an artist happier than bringing your imagination to life.
