Career biography
Sabyasachi’s journey started back in 2008 when he worked on the first two Disney Tinkerbell movies as a CFX Artist. This experience taught him many lessons and helped shape his path going forward. Since then, it’s been a fun and crazy ride, where he honed his craft working on major projects for top-tier clients such as Disney, DreamWorks, and Bagdasarian. He contributed to high-profile animated features and series, including Tinker Bell, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Kung Fu Panda, where his work in visual effects and character effects helped elevate the storytelling and on-screen action.
In 2016, Sabyasachi made a strategic transition into the gaming world. This marked the beginning of his work in cutting-edge virtual and augmented reality. He was part of the Technicolor Experience Centre (TEC) team that created many Virtual Reality projects including the Emmy Award-winning VR documentary Awavena, which received widespread acclaim and was showcased at prestigious events like SXSW and SIGGRAPH. His deep understanding of real-time workflows, coupled with his expertise in game engines like Unreal and Unity, positioned him as a key contributor to groundbreaking immersive experiences.
Now, as an Associate VFX Director at Technicolor Games, Sabyasachi leads a talented VFX team in the creation of high-end visual effects for a variety of games, cinematic and other interactive experiences. His role requires a keen understanding of client needs and a collaborative approach to delivering visually stunning content that aligns with project goals. One of his recent standout projects is Dragon Age: The Veilguard, a AAA fantasy RPG that pushes the boundaries of VFX and gameplay in the beloved Dragon Age franchise.
The journey to this point has been made up of many different experiences and collaborations with so many great artists, teams and co-workers. In Sabyasachi’s own words:
I am thrilled to be in this real-time space which has matured so much over time with research, new technologies and great people working behind it. I am eager to see where the journey leads to.
Beyond Technicolor Games
Outside of his professional work, he enjoys participating in Game Jams, where he collaborates with his like-minded creators to develop indie games and explore new ideas in game development.
Sabyasachi is also an avid gamer. He likes to play various styles of games, including FPS, RPG, Arcade style, VR games and multiplayer games. His all-time favourite is the 8-bit games which include Super Mario Bros, Bomber man, which he often plays and cherishes even today.
One thing you may not know about Sabyasachi
He used to be a professional e-sports player for Counter Strike and also a table tennis player back in the day.
