It’s safe to say the Games Developers Conference is back! With over 1,000 speakers and 700 sessions, the annual event for game developers saw in excess of 28,000 registered attendees, more than doubling the number of in-person attendees from last year’s event.
Our Business Development Directors, Vik Long and Justin Phass attended the week-long conference in San Francisco. They used their time to gain insight into the latest industry trends and new technologies, as well as to connect with friends, clients and the wider Gaming community.
Vik Long comments: “It was good to see GDC regain much of its pre-pandemic levels of energy and activity. I enjoyed catching up with many friends, as well as reconnecting with industry contacts to help bring their visions of awesome gaming experiences to life.”
The conference featured workshops and sessions led by some of the biggest names in the Games and Entertainment industry, along with big game reveals and first gameplay footage. The Technicolor Games team also fed back that there is a newly concerted studio push to move projects forward that were previously stalled or delayed by the pandemic years.
But beyond this, the big focus of the week was celebrating the in-person experience, which was reflected in the excitement and activity levels throughout every aspect of the conference.
“It was great to be back in the bay area for GDC after a few down years due to Covid. It really felt like the GDC of old and it was great to catch up with old friends and clients to talk about all the new projects in the pipeline,” adds Justin Phass.
It certainly looks to be a busy time for the Gaming industry with lots to look forward to in the not-so distant future.
