This year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) is shaping up to be an epic event. As the world’s largest industry event for virtual reality (VR) and interactive game developers, GDC attracts upwards of 27,000 attendees and more than 175 exhibitors representing every facet of the gaming industry.
Besides being a forum to share what’s hot in VR and game development, GDC features “cool interactive spaces,” including lounges, exhibits, and special events, such as the first-ever “GDC Movie Night” and “Art Boss,” a new showcase for artists who work in the games industry.
Another can’t miss event is the Game Developers Choice Awards, honoring winners and nominees across fourteen categories, including the new Best VR/AR Game. The ceremony is held in conjunction with the Independent Games Festival Awards, and is open to all GDC 2017 passholders.
Speaking of VR, there’s a special lead-in to the main event, VRDC @ GDC, being held on February 27-28. Focused exclusively on VR games and technology, sessions are organized along two tracks: Game VR/AR and Entertainment VR/AR. Exhibits will showcase cutting-edge VR/AR technologies and attendees can learn about opportunities for creating immersive VR and AR experiences.
GDC 2017 is happening February 27 – March 3 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.
